WEATHER QLD BRISBANE 1800
QUEENSLAND WEATHER SUMMARY:
WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS: Nil.
RAINFALL SUMMARY: To 9am Tuesday there were scattered light falls along the east coast and
moderate falls reported in the Wide Bay Burnett and Sunshine Coast regions. The highest 24
hour total was 40mm at Woodgate Store, other reports included Hervey Bay and Maleny 37mm,
Tiaro Post Office 29mm, Tewantin 25mm, Gin Gin and Kenilworth 24mm, Heron Island, Lindfield
and Baroon Pocket Dam 22mm.
Between 9am and 3pm Tuesday only a few light falls were reported from coastal areas and the
Central Highlands. The highest total in the 6 hours was 6mm at Toolara, other reports included
Hervey Bay 5mm, Rainbow Beach 5mm, Lady Elliot 3mm and Double Island Point, Innisfail and
Yeppon 2mm.
TEMPERATURE SUMMARY: Minimum temperatures across most of the state were above normal
particularly in coastal districts where the cloud cover kept overnight temperatures well above
normal. Maryborough and Kingaroy had the largest variation with minimum's 8 degrees above
normal. The state's lowest minimum was 7 degrees at Roma.
Maximum temperatures were within 1 or 2 of normal across most of the state. The exception
was in the south-west where Birdsville's maximum of 31 was 8 degrees above average, due to
warm north-easterly winds. The state's highest maximum was 33 degrees at Camooweal, Normanton
and Weipa.
NOTES ON THE WEATHER CHART: A 1033 hpa high in the Tasman Sea extended a firm ridge along
the east coast of Queensland. The ridge, in combination with a weakening trough offshore, has
brought moist moderate to strong east to south-east winds and a few showers to coastal
districts and into the Central Highlands.
Away from coastal districts and the Central Highlands, the rest of Queensland has been fine
and mild, and in western districts north-easterly winds have brought fine warmer weather,
ahead of a weak cold front near Adelaide.
SOUTH-EAST COAST DISTRICT: Scattered showers near the coast, more isolated westwards.
Moderate to fresh SE to E winds, easing a little.
BRISBANE: Fine most of the time, though one or two showers about. Moderate SE to E winds.
Max: 22. UV Index - 06 (high).
IPSWICH AREA: Fine most of the time, though one or two showers about. Moderate SE to E
winds. Amberley max: 23. UV Index - 06 (high).
GOLD COAST: A few showers. Moderate to fresh SE to E winds. Coolangatta max: 21. UV Index -
06 (high).
SUNSHINE COAST: A few showers. Moderate to fresh SE to E winds. Tewantin max: 22. UV Index
- 07 (very high).
MORETON BAY: SE to E winds easing to 15/20 knots. Highest seas decreasing to 1.2 metres
offshore from Deception Bay to Mud Island. Lighter winds at times in the sheltered western and
southern bay. Scattered showers.
PENINSULA DISTRICT: Isolated showers, chiefly in the north and east. Light to moderate SE
to E winds.
GULF COUNTRY DISTRICT: Fine. Light to moderate SE to E winds.
NORTHERN GOLDFIELDS AND UPPER FLINDERS DISTRICT: Fine. Light to moderate SE to E winds.
NORTH TROPICAL COAST AND TABLELANDS DISTRICT: A few showers, chiefly near the coast. Mostly
moderate SE to E winds.
CAIRNS: Mostly fine. Only a shower or two, mainly night and early morning. Moderate SE'ly
winds. Max: 28. UV Index - 09 (very high).
HERBERT AND LOWER BURDEKIN DISTRICT: Mostly fine. Only isolated coastal showers. Light to
moderate SE winds, and NE afternoon sea breezes about the coast.
TOWNSVILLE: Fine. Light to moderate SE winds and NE afternoon sea breezes. Max: 27. UV
Index - 09 (very high).
NORTH-WEST DISTRICT: Remaining fine with light to moderate SE to E winds.
MT ISA: Remaining fine with light to moderate SE to E winds. Max: 29. UV Index - 08 (very
high).
CENTRAL WEST DISTRICT: Mostly fine with moderate E'ly winds. Partly cloudy in the east and
south-east with the chance of a light shower.
LONGREACH: Remaining fine with moderate E to NE winds. Max: 28. UV Index - 07 (very high).
CHANNEL COUNTRY DISTRICT: Remaining fine with light to moderate E to NE winds.
MARANOA AND WARREGO DISTRICT: Fine with light to moderate E to NE winds.

more isolated inland with mostly moderate SE to E winds.

GLADSTONE: A few showers. Fresh SE to E winds. Max: 25. UV Index - 08 (very high).
CENTRAL HIGHLANDS AND COALFIELDS DISTRICT: Cloudy areas, but only isolated showers or
drizzle. Mostly moderate SE to E winds.
DARLING DOWNS AND GRANITE BELT DISTRICT: Cloudy areas; however, only isolated light showers
or drizzle likely in the east and north. Moderate to locally fresh SE to NE winds.
TOOWOOMBA: Some early morning drizzle then a fine, though partly cloudy, day. Moderate to
occasionally fresh E'ly winds. Max: 20. UV Index - 06 (high).
WIDE BAY AND BURNETT DISTRICT: Cloudy areas with scattered showers, particularly in the
east and south. Some early morning drizzle about the higher country. Moderate to fresh SE to E
winds.
BUNDABERG: Cloudy at times with a shower or two. Moderate to fresh SE winds. Max: 24. UV
